- This will be the inaugural meeting between Afghanistan and West Indies in men's Test cricket; it will be the first time West Indies have played a Test in India without it being against the host country.

- Rahmat Shah has scored 294 runs at an average of 49; the most runs of any Afghanistan player in men's Test cricket and the highest average of any player to have featured in all six of Afghanistan’s batting innings in the format.
