ধারাভাষ্য

  • Up next - While it was the MI London Women fighting for survival, it is now the London Spirit men with their season on the line as they take on their city rivals. Another London derby awaits, with the stakes just as high. Sam Curran has won the toss and inserted Spirit into bat, so switch tabs and join us there for all the action. Cheers!

  • Down and out - That's exactly how it seemed when MI London slumped to 64/8, but Amelia Kerr had other ideas. Despite losing partners throughout the innings, she led a spirited counterattack, with MI London scoring 58 runs from the final 25 balls to script a special recovery.

  • A chase that unravelled - MI London carried the momentum from their late batting surge into the field, removing London Spirit's top three inside the first 30 balls. Charlie Dean was unable to make much of an impact either, leaving Spirit in a spot of bother. The two Proteas, Marizanne Kapp and Nadine De Klerk, then came together to steady the innings with a crucial partnership. Neither batter, however, was able to see the chase through. Deandra Dottin has not been in the best of touch of late, and having been pushed down to number 9, it proved too much to ask of her by the time she walked out to bat.

  • PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Amelia Kerr wins the award for her special performance. An unbeaten 69 off 41 with the bat and 1/20 with the ball. She says it is simply pleasing to come away with the win, adding that it was a great game for the crowd and even better to finish on the winning side in the London Derby. Speaking about MI London's precarious position at 64/8, she credits Kirstie Gordon for the support at the other end, saying the partnership showed great character on a tricky surface. Kerr notes that once they got past 100, reaching 120 felt like a bonus. On the conditions, Kerr explains that hitting straight down the ground was difficult early on and feels taking the pace off the ball was the key. She adds that bowlers are only human and will occasionally miss their execution, but believes sticking to the plans ultimately made the difference.

  • MI London Women live to fight another day - Who would have thought they would prevail when they were reeling at 64/8? London Spirit Women will be wondering how they let this one slip after having their rivals firmly on the ropes. It was a case of deja vu in the London derby for Spirit. Earlier this season, they needed 22 runs from the final 15 balls but couldn't get over the line. Today, the equation was 25 from 15, and once again they fell short.

  • End of Over 20
    Over 20. 11 runs. Bowler: Nicola Carey. : 119/8 (rr 5.95)

OUT! DOTTIN IS RUN OUT! Nicola Carey comes out on top here. MI London Women win by 3 runs. This is short of a length and around off, Deandra Dottin swats it off the toe-end but only as far as long on for a single. She turns around for the second, but Katie George is not interested at all. Chinelle Henry throws it at the bowler's end, where Carey does the rest.

  • Remember, there is no Super Five at this stage of the tournament. A four will tie the game, and it would be the second tied game of the season between these two sides.

  • 19.4

A precious dot! Nicola Carey bangs this into the pitch, cleverly taking pace off. Deandra Dottin backs away and slashes but misses out. 5 needed in 1 now. Are we in for another tie in the London Derby?

  • 19.3

FOUR! Two in two! Deandra Dottin is keeping London Spirit Women alive here. This is fuller and down the leg side. Dottin backs away and tries to whip it away but loses her bottom hand. It races to the right of deep square leg, where the fielder puts in a dive but fails to stop the boundary. 5 needed in 2 now.

  • Kira Chathli goes back to her usual position. Hayley Matthews has walked over for a chat with Nicola Carey. All three fielders outside the circle are on the leg side.

  • 19.2

FOUR! Gets it through! A low full toss, outside off. Deandra Dottin gets her hands through the shot and muscles it between cover and point for a boundary. 9 runs needed in 3 balls now.

  • 19.1

Slower one, full and on middle, Deandra Dottin drags it off the inside half of the bat through mid-wicket and hurries back for the second run. 13 needed in 4 balls now!

  • Will Hayley Matthews continue? The answer is no. It will be pace for the final set in the form of Nicola Carey. London Spirit Women need 15 runs from 5 balls.

  • End of Over 19
    Over 19. 3 runs. Bowler: Hayley Matthews. : 108/7 (rr 5.68)

  • 18.5

Hayley Matthews bangs in a bouncer now, around off, Deandra Dottin tries to cut but misses.

  • Finally, Deandra Dottin comes out to bat. More drama as MI London Women are behind on over rate and will be allowed only 3 fielders outside the inner circle from here.

  • 18.4
Nadine De Klerk c Alice Monaghan b Hayley Matthews 35 (29)

OUT! IN THE AIR...GONE! Nicola Carey will be the most relieved player right now. Hayley Matthews gives this one some more air again, full and around off. Nadine De Klerk goes down and across for the slog sweep but once again does not get the distance. It goes miles in the air towards deep square leg, where Alice Monaghan runs to her left and takes a superb catch under pressure. The Spirit now need 15 runs in 6 balls.

  • 18.3

DROPPED! Has Nicola Carey dropped the game here? Hayley Matthews floats it up, but well outside off, keeping it away from the batter. Nadine De Klerk tries to reach out for it and dispatch it over extra cover but gets more height. Nicola Carey in the deep settles under the high ball, but spills it. The ball rolls away but she does well to stop the boundary. Two taken.

  • 18.2

Goes short and on off, Katie George pulls it away to deep square leg for a single.

  • Katie George comes in next. Still no Deandra Dottin, which is a little surprising. Sending the left-handed Charis Pavely ahead of her was a bit understandable with the shorter boundary on one side, but the decision to promote the right-handed George ahead of Dottin is a more curious one.

  • 18.1
Charis Pavely st Kira Chathli b Hayley Matthews 5 (7)

OUT! STUMPED! Hayley Matthews gets a wicket now. She tosses it up, full and on off, turns it away. Charis Pavely dances down the track to go big but gets beaten on the flight. Kira Chathli, this time, grabs it well and breaks the stumps. Pavely does the split to get her back foot inside the crease but that is not enough to save her here. Still 18 needed in 9 balls.

  • Hayley Matthews to bowl the penultimate set with London Spirit Women needing 18 runs off 10 balls.

  • End of Over 18
    Over 18. 7 runs. Bowler: Kirstie Gordon. : 105/5 (rr 5.83)

  • 17.5

FOUR! A much-needed boundary! Quicker one, shortish and on middle. Nadine De Klerk steps across to get inside the line of the ball and swipes it through backward square leg for four runs.

  • 17.4

Flighted, full and on leg, Charis Pavely whips it through square leg for one.

  • 17.3

Stumping chance missed! Kirstie Gordon fires this one, full and on leg. Charis Pavely skips down the track to slog it but yorks herself and misses. Kira Chathli fails to collect the ball and lets go of the chance.

  • 17.2

Good fielding! Flatter, short and on off, Nadine De Klerk gets across to sweep it but gets a top edge wide of short fine. The fielder stretches her left hand out and grabs it on the bounce. Just one. That brings up the 100 for London Spirit Women.

  • 17.1

Floated, full and on middle, Charis Pavely comes down the track and drags it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

  • Kirstie Gordon returns to bowl her final set.

  • End of Over 17
    Over 17. 5 runs. Bowler: Nicola Carey. : 98/5 (rr 5.76)

  • 16.5

Hard length and around off, Nadine De Klerk steps across and swipes it to deep square leg for one more. 25 needed in 15 balls now!

  • 16.4

Touch fuller and on off, Charis Pavely taps it in front of short cover and scampers across for a run.

  • 16.3

On a length and on leg, Charis Pavely tucks it with soft hands through mid-wicket and comes back for the second run.
