On to Qualifier 2 - And that brings us to the end of a rain-hit Eliminator, with IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans knocked out and Lyca Kovai Kings moving through to Qualifier 2, where they will face Trichy Grand Cholas. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, from 2 pm GMT (7.30 pm IST). Join us early for all the build-up, and let's hope the weather stays away this time. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
A short night in Chennai - If Qualifier 1 gave us just five overs of action, the Eliminator offered even less, with only three overs possible before the rain had the final say. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans openers Amit Sathvik and Tushar Raheja had made a cautious start, reaching 15, but there was no way back after the showers returned. Lyca Kovai Kings barely had to break a sweat and now go into Qualifier 2 with plenty in the tank, ready to throw everything at Trichy Grand Cholas in their bid to reach the final.
Rain ends ITT's campaign - The inevitable has happened as this Eliminator has been ABANDONED DUE TO RAIN, ending defending champions IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans’ season in heartbreaking fashion. The lifeline given to them by Siechem Madurai Panthers on the final day of the league stage has been snatched away by the weather. The captains have completed the customary handshakes, bringing a disappointing night to an end, while Lyca Kovai Kings progress to Qualifier 2 after finishing third in the league stage, ahead of ITT on NRR. Both opening playoff games have now been washed out, and with Qualifier 2 and the Final also at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the weather could still play a part. Hopefully, the remaining two games get the finish this season deserves.
4.56 pm GMT (10.26 pm IST) - Just as we were getting closer to a restart, the rain has returned in Chennai. That is a major setback, and with another spell of rain arriving at this stage, a washout is now looking increasingly likely. IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans will be desperate to get even a five-over shootout and avoid being knocked out without a chance. Lyca Kovai Kings, meanwhile, can afford to be more relaxed, knowing a washout sends them through.
4.45 pm GMT (10.15 pm IST) - The official stream is still not back live, which could suggest that more work is needed to get the ground ready. It looks like the scheduled restart may have been delayed once again, so we will have to wait a little longer for the latest update from Chennai.
4.30 pm GMT (10 pm IST) - The umpires are still concerned about the outfield, with the ground staff working hard once again to get things ready. The restart has been pushed back to 4.45 pm GMT (10.15 pm IST), and we now have an 11-over-per-side game, with the Powerplay set at 3.2 overs.
4.22 pm GMT (9.52 pm IST) - Good news, folks! The rain has finally stopped in Chennai, and the ground staff have worked wonders to get the field ready. The official word is that play will resume at 4.30 pm GMT (10 pm IST), with the match reduced to 13 overs per side. After all that rain, we are finally set for some action!
4 pm GMT (9.30 pm IST) - There is still no official update from the ground, but videos from locals on X show just how heavily it is raining in Chennai, and the chances of seeing the game resume are slowly fading. We still have some time, though, and even a five-over shootout would be far better than no result at all. If the rain does wash out the game, as it did in Qualifier 1, Lyca Kovai Kings will advance to Qualifier 2 ahead of defending champions IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, having finished higher on NRR. Yet another example of why every run and every ball matters in the league phase, with net run rate potentially deciding a team's entire campaign.
3.25 pm GMT (8.55 pm IST) - It has been more than an hour since the game was brought to a halt, and we are now entering the territory where the delay could have a significant impact on the match. Even if the rain clears and play resumes, there is a strong possibility that we could see some overs being lost.
2.42 pm GMT (8.12 pm IST) - It is actually pouring down in Chennai now, with the rain coming down heavily and showing no signs of easing up. The covers are firmly in place, and at the moment, it looks like we could be in for a longer wait than expected. Stick with us for more news.
2.19 pm GMT (7.49 pm IST) - Maybe we jinxed it! The drizzle has arrived now, and it is heavy enough for the umpires to call for the covers. Hopefully, this is only a passing shower and the rain clears up quickly so the action can resume.
Game stopped due to : Rain Stoppage
FOUR! Gets it away! Short of a length and well outside off. Amit Sathvik gets the chance to free his arms and crunches it past point for a boundary.
A strong gust of wind is sweeping across the ground now, but thankfully, there are still no signs of rain. Hopefully, the weather stays clear and allows the action to continue without any interruption.
No run, beaten! Lovely bowling as the batter is defeated all ends up.

Uppish but safe! Good length and on off, holds up on the surface. Tushar Raheja is early into his flick and gets a leading edge. It goes in the air but lands well in front of extra cover, who moves to his left to make a half-stop. A single taken.
No run. Swing and a miss! The batter swings hard at that one but does not connect.
Arm ball, full and on middle, angling in sharply. Tushar Raheja gets stuck in his crease and misses the flick. It goes off his pads towards short third and the batters cross. There is a big appeal for LBW, but turned down. Given as runs, so maybe there was an inside edge.
Slows it up, full and on off, Amit Sathvik lunges out and knocks it towards mid off for a single.
Flighted, full and on middle and leg, Amit Sathvik tucks it to short mid-wicket.
Beaten! Tossed up, full and on off, does not spin much. Amit Sathvik prods forward and plays for the turn but gets beaten on the outside edge. Suresh Lokeshwar collects it and whips the bails off quickly. The third umpire is called upon to check for the stumping. First, UltraEdge confirms no bat involved, and then the replay shows that the back foot of Sathvik was grounded when the stumps were broken.
Flatter, short and outside off. Amit Sathvik leaves it along but this one is inside the tramline.
Manimaran Siddharth begins with a floater, full and around leg, Amit Sathvik goes down to swipe it away but misses and gets hit on the pads.
Good comeback from K Deeban Lingesh after getting hit for a boundary on the very first ball. It will be spin from the other end as Manimaran Siddharth will share the attack.
Good length and around middle, angling in sharply. Tushar Raheja fails to clip it away and gets hit high on the pads. 6 runs off the first over!
Pitched up and on middle, holds its line. Amit Sathvik looks to work it across the line but gets a leading edge along the ground towards long off for a single.
WIDE! Full again but a bit too outside off, Amit Sathvik leaves it alone. Wided.
Beauty! K Deeban Lingesh goes a bit fuller and on middle and off, straightens a bit off the deck. Amit Sathvik tries to push it away but gets beaten on the outside edge.
