A hugely impressive 130 run partnership between Henry Nicholls and Todd Astle has put New Zealand in command at the halfway point in the Second ODI in Christchurch. They were forced to take their time at first as the hosts found themselves in a tricky situation at 186/5, with their most experienced batsmen back in the shed. Both went up through the gears quickly towards the end to register career best scores and punish a wilting attack. Sheldon Cottrell and Jason Holder were decent enough with the ball, but the West Indies will require something special with the bat to remain alive in the series.

He rearranges the furniture with a full, fast one that clatters into off stump to finish with the ridiculous figures of 7/34. That's a career best effort by the left-armer and a performance that will live long in the memory of everyone at Hagley Oval today. New Zealand seal the series with a match to spare.
A completely dominant New Zealand have demolished West Indies in Christchurch in a massively one-sided contest, giving them an unassailable 2-0 series lead. A composed 130 run partnership between Henry Nicholls (83) and Todd Astle (49) set things up for the Kiwis after they had a mid-innings wobble. They both made career best scores in mature knocks that pushed the hosts to an imposing total. Without Chris Gayle today through illness, the visitors needed a quick start but instead Trent Boult dismantled their line-up. Four wickets in his first spell and three in his second came either side of Lockie Ferguson's brutal burst, skittling West Indies for just 121. Boult passed 100 ODI wickets on his way to an extraordinary 7/34, the second best figures for a Kiwi in ODI cricket.
