We are all set for the chase to begin. Glenn Phillips and Mavendra Dindyal walk out to open the innings for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Amari Goodridge is set to deliver the first over for Saint Lucia Kings.
... THE RUN CHASE ...
A tight run chase lining up - Amari Goodridge and Shadley van Schalkwyk did their best to rescue things late on, nudging the total along to 151 as the innings drew to a close. It's a par total on paper after that top-order wobble, but with boundaries hard to come by throughout, Saint Lucia Kings will hope their bowlers can defend it. This chase promises to be closely fought all the way.
Kings rebuild, then stutter late - Roston Chase steadied things somewhat, guiding the innings to 76 before he too departed, but it was the 45-run partnership between Darron Nedd and Charith Asalanka that anchored a crucial rebuild, helping the total climb to 121 before Nedd fell in the 17th over. From there it was stop-start for the Kings, as Matthew Forde and Charith Asalanka both fell cheaply within a few balls of each other with the score stuck around 136, threatening to derail the innings just when momentum was needed most. Dwaine Pretorius was the pick of the Guyana attack, finishing with three wickets, well supported by Imran Tahir's key strike.
Up for a quick chat - Dwaine Pretorius began by reflecting on their team's perfect start in Jamaica, describing it as a great overall performance and praising the bowling unit for delivering a solid effort tonight. Addressing how he dismissed both Saint Lucia Kings openers with short deliveries, he admitted that Kamil Pooran and Andries Gous had put him under early pressure, forcing him to adapt and execute his backup plan. He concluded by praising the quality of the pitch, noting that it offered a nice, comfortable amount of bounce for the bowlers.
Flying start from Warriors' bowlers - What an innings it was! Even after multiple rain stoppages, the match kept on rolling and Saint Lucia Kings have done just enough to score 151, losing seven of their batters. The Warriors won the toss to elect to bowl first, and the decision was upheld by their bowlers. They got early inroads as Saint Lucia Kings lost Kamil Pooran with the total on just 30. Things didn't get much easier from there, as Andries Gous and Ackeem Auguste both fell in quick succession, leaving the Kings 55/3 and searching for stability.
Comedy of errors! All smiles around. A slower one to end the over, angling it outside off. Shadley van Schalkwyk swings and misses. Amari Goodridge sets off for a single pretty early, but Shadley van Schalkwyk stays at the striker end as the keeper already underarms the ball to hit the stump. However, the ball misses the stumps and rolls toward the bowler. Amari Goodridge puts on the brakes and sprints to get back at the bowler's end, but Joseph also misses the direct hit. The mid on fielder moves to his left to back it up. A dot to finish and Saint Lucia Kings have posted 151 runs on the board.
FOUR! A very crucial boundary from Schalkwyk! Shamar Joseph misses his length and spills out a half-volley on middle. Shadley van Schalkwyk lofts it over the bowler and gets the boundary.
Angling down the leg side, Amari Goodridge helps it away to deep fine leg for a single.
Yorker, wide outside off, Shadley van Schalkwyk digs it to mid off for a single.
Back of a length, angling in, around the hips of the batter. Amari Goodridge swipes it late from the inner part of his bat and the ball rolls away toward the right of the deep fine leg fielder for a single.
Much fuller, on middle, Shadley van Schalkwyk flicks it to square leg for a single.
Shamar Joseph will finish off the innings.
Good-length delivery, outside off, Amari Goodridge looks to lash it through cover but fails to get the connection.
A touch fuller, outside off, Shadley van Schalkwyk drives it to cover for one.
On a length, angling away from the batter. Shadley van Schalkwyk swings and misses.
FOUR! SHOT! Much fuller, just outside off, Shadley van Schalkwyk makes room and drills it past the mid off fielder for four runs.
On a length, around the middle stump. Shadley van Schalkwyk flicks it to deep square leg and gets a couple of runs.
Shadley van Schalkwyk is the next batter.
OUT! CAUGHT! Make it three for Dwaine Pretorius and Saint Lucia Kings lose their set batter. Good-length delivery, angling in, at the stumps. Charith Asalanka tries to whack it across the line but miscues it to hit the top edge. The ball skies toward wide long off, where Mohammad Nabi chases under the skier and dives to catch it safely.
Amari Goodridge is the new man in.
OUT! TAKEN! The ball flies toward one of the safest in the CPL and he never misses that kind of catch. Shamar Joseph, just releasing the delivery, sees the batter making room. So he angles it toward the batter, down the leg side. Forde has no room and ends up heaving it toward deep mid-wicket. Glenn Phillips runs to his left and takes a good running catch.
Pitches it up, on middle, angling in. Matthew Forde drills it straight to the mid on fielder.
A touch fuller, around off, Charith Asalanka hits it to long on for one.
Much fuller, angling away, just inside the tramline. Charith Asalanka makes a leave.
Off cutter now from Joseph, on a good length, outside off. Charith Asalanka tries to slog it, but gets the inside edge and hits his own pad.
DROPPED! Hard chance though! Good-length delivery, keeping the line just outside off, nipping it away with pace. Matthew Forde swings to hit it over mid on, but gets a thick outside edge. The ball flies toward the right of the keeper. Shai Hope dives, gets his right hand on it but parries it away as he fails to grab it.
Attacking the middle stump now, on the fuller side, Matthew Forde pushes it to mid on and gets a single.
SIX! It looks like the fireworks have already started! Full-length delivery, nipping in, just outside off. Matthew Forde clears his front foot and launches it with the full face of the bat over the long off fence for a huge six.
SIX! HUMONGOUS! Back of a length, around off and middle. Matthew Forde heaves it away and sails it over deep square leg for a biggie.
ADIOS! That's it from this contest, with Guyana winning it by 7 wickets. The 12th match of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League between the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will indeed take place on Thursday, 20 August 2026, at 11 pm GMT, at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Skipper of Guyana Amazon Warriors - Imran Tahir says their seamers started really well and credits Khary Pierre for being unbelievable. He says Pierre has bowled really well in every game and that helped them big time in the powerplay. He adds that three of them can bowl in the powerplay and they have experience, but overall it was a good performance from the boys as a bowling group. On the intensity and focus in the group, he says they have been playing together since GSL and most of the guys have been together for a couple of years. So they know different venues in the Caribbean and how to apply themselves, and it all comes with experience. He says they showed a lot of professionalism today. From a batting point of view, they got a little bit stuck in the last 4-5 overs, but they have guys down the order who can hit the ball. They knew one of the guys would come good and they could chase the score down easily. He adds that as a bowling team they want to improve and feels they could have done it in 17 overs. On the opening partnership between Glenn Phillips and Mavendra Dindyal, he says Dindyal is playing his second CPL game under a lot of pressure against Forde, a senior bowler who swings it both ways and that is good experience for him. Tahir reckons that the way Mavendra fought back and got runs was good, and on the other side, Phillips did his job as a senior player by giving him confidence and helping him build his innings. That is where senior players come in to help youngsters, and Phillips did it brilliantly today. On whether this is the strongest squad he has had in his CPL career, he says he thinks so. They have always had good players, but it comes down to how you come and play at every different venue. As a group, they take pride in representing Guyana, the badge and themselves, and they don’t want to take things for granted. It is nice to see them gelling well and everyone trying to do their job, and as captain, that makes him feel really happy at the end.
Skipper of Saint Lucia Kings - Roston Chase says batting first did not play a part in the result. Chase says whatever you do first, you have to do it well and he feels they were 25 runs short adding that they never got going with the bat and at no stage were they in control of the innings. Chase also mentions that they struggled to get to 150, and he does not think that was enough. On not being able to add big partnerships, he says they keep losing wickets in critical moments when they start to build one and when it is time to pull the trigger, that is when they lose the wicket, the next batter then has to rebuild and they lose momentum, and they never seem to finish well in the last 5. On the missed chances, he says when you are defending a small total, it is necessary to get wickets in the Powerplay, and they did not do that today and maybe because the score was not much, the batters did not have to come hard at them, so they could not create chances. His message to the team is that they keep making the same mistakes, so the guys need to focus hard and try to eliminate those mistakes. On Tim Seifert being available for the next game, he says yes, hopefully he is.
POTM - Dwaine Pretorius wins the award for his bowling display of 3 for 29. Dwaine Pretorius says he loves playing for Guyana and calls it another good team performance and says everyone did their role. He praises the great opening partnership from the youngster playing his 2nd game and says overall it was a great performance from them. He adds that he knew there were going to be shots against him, he had several plans and luckily they worked out. He also credits Shamar, Shepherd and Tahir for bowling really well, and says the batting was the same. He says they pride themselves on not giving away too many freebies, and when you go searching for lengths, those things happen. On the fans, he says they are awesome and they support them wherever they go and he thanks them for their support.
Time for the presentation ceremony ...
St Lucia Kings posted 151 - Earlier, the Saint Lucia Kings compiled 151/7 in a heavily disrupted first innings that endured three rain interruptions spanning two and a half hours, before the Guyana Amazon Warriors pulled things back in the death overs. Despite a rapid start and key contributions from Charith Asalanka and others, the Kings were reduced to 76/4 before accelerating, ultimately finishing with a respectable total as Dwaine Pretorius and Shamar Joseph controlled the final phase.
Subpar display from Kings bowlers - The bowling department for the St Lucia Kings failed to consistently trouble the batters or defend their total on a night where almost everyone in the Warriors' lineup got into the runs. The attack looked largely toothless, managing to pluck out just three wickets over the course of the second innings. Maheesh Theekshana was the only real bright spot with his two scalps, while Joshua Bishop picked up the solitary remaining wicket in a losing cause.
Middle-order blitz seals the chase - Things were starting to look close but thanks to a blistering, unbeaten 38-run partnership off just 11 deliveries between Shimron Hetmyer and Quentin Sampson. Their explosive cameo completely took the wind out of the opposition's sails and swiftly closed the door on any potential comeback. This late fireworks display ensured the Warriors sealed an emphatic 7-wicket victory with a comfortable 11 balls left to spare.
Openers lay the perfect foundation - Chasing 152 for victory, the Guyana Amazon Warriors got off to a dream start as their opening duo of Glenn Phillips and Mavendra Dindyal did more than half the heavy lifting. The pair put together a commanding 79-run opening stand to break the back of the chase before Glenn was dismissed. While Mavendra struggled to find his usual fluency, he showed immense grit to grind his way through the tough phases and anchor the innings with a crucial top-scoring half-century.

SCORES ARE LEVEL! Good length, around off, Shimron Hetmyer rolls this down to long off for a single.

19 needed off the last 3 overs.
SIX! Quentin Sampson goes back-to-back for huge sixes. Full on middle and leg, Quentin Sampson gets inside the line of the ball and flicks this just over the fielder at deep square leg for six more runs. As easy as you like, says Quentin Sampson.
SIX! High and handsome from Sampson. Short of a length, on middle and off, Quentin Sampson rocks onto his back foot, pulls this over the fence towards the right of the deep square leg region for a massive six.
Pushed through around off, Shimron Hetmyer punches this down to long off for a single.
Full and on middle and off, Quentin Sampson works this through the mid-wicket region for one.
OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Flicker, around off, Shai Hope clears his front foot and goes for a wild slog but misses. The ball goes just over the stumps, and Maheesh Theekshana appeals in a celebratory manner but Shai Hope refuses with a shake of his head. Roston Chase asks for a DRS. UltraEdge shows a spike as the ball passes the bat of Hope and is gathered by the keeper behind the stumps. Quentin Sampson is the new batter at the crease.
