  • This will be the first meeting between South Africa and Nepal in international cricket; the Proteas have won each of their last 10 completed men’s T20Is when facing an opponent for the first time.
  • South Africa have won their first three games the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, making it the third time they have managed to do so in a season of the competition (also 2007 and 2009); in both 2007 and 2009 they went on to win their fourth game as well.
  • Nepal have lost each of their last three completed men’s T20Is, after winning four games on the bounce prior to that; the last time the Rhinos went on a longer such run was a stretch of four losses between July 2015 and January 2019.
  • Nepal have won each of their last three men’s T20Is when batting second on the day, after winning just one in their five games prior to that (L4); the last time the Rhinos registered a longer such winning streak was a stretch of five games in October 2023.
  • South Africa have logged a bowling dot ball rate of 47.1% in men’s T20Is played in 2024, the best of any full-member side; in fact, they have logged a dot ball rate of more than 50% in each of their three games in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
  • Nepal batters have logged a false shot rate of 61.2% in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the highest of all sides and almost twice as much as that of South Africa (32.1%).
  • Kushal Bhurtel (nine 50+ scores) is one away from becoming the second Nepal batter to log 10 or more 50+ scores in men’s T20Is (Dipendra Singh Airee – 10); however, he has managed only one 50+ score in the format this year (59 vs PNG on 12 March) and is averaging just 12.4 runs over 14 innings, compared to his career average of 27.9.
  • Anrich Nortje (46 wickets) is four away from becoming the eighth South Africa bowler to log 50 wickets in men’s T20Is; in fact, if he manages to do so against Nepal, he will also surpass Dale Steyn (30 wickets) to become his side’s leading wicket taker in the Men’s T20 World Cup (currently at 28).
  • Dipendra Singh Airee has a bowling economy rate of 6.1 in men’s T20Is, the second best of any Nepal player to have bowled in 10 or more innings in the format (Pawan Sarraf – 5.9); he has logged an economy rate of more than six in just five of his 12 innings in the format this year.
  • Quinton de Kock (93 sixes) is seven away from becoming the second South Africa batter to strike 100+ boundary sixes in men’s T20Is (David Miller – 112 sixes for South Africa); de Kock has struck seven or more sixes in an innings in the format on two occasions (8 vs West Indies on 26 March 2023 and 8 vs England on 14 February 2020).
