Welcome back! The men concerned are back in the middle. 183 off 120 balls. That's the target for Nellai Royal Kings to achieve to move to the top of the table. Can they? The breeze has picked up and there are black clouds arriving as well. Meanwhile, Santhosh Kumar D and Athish S R are the openers for Trichy Grand Cholas.  Athisayaraj Davidson is running in...

    ... CHASE TIME ...

Nellai lost their grip -  Nellai Royal Kings were excellent for much of the first half, keeping the Cholas under pressure with disciplined bowling and Sachin Rathi leading the charge with a superb three-wicket haul. The support cast also kept things tight, but the second half slipped away. Loose deliveries crept in, and once Suresh Kumar and Rajkumar opened up, the pressure shifted sharply. The Cholas finished strongly after Nellai's grip began to loosen. They have the momentum heading into the break, and let's see how things pan out in the second essay.

  • 0.0

Great recovery!  What a finish! 69 runs in the last 5 overs. The Cholas looked down and out at the halfway mark, stranded at 57 for three, but their skipper Suresh Kumar had other ideas. He led the fightback with a powerful fifty, while partnerships with Kousik and Sanjay Yadav injected much-needed momentum into the innings. R Rajumar then turned on the afterburners, providing the perfect finishing flourish with a blistering cameo.

  • 19.6

FOUR! Saravana is finding his range quickly. Full and outside off, he gets forward and opens the face, lofting the square drive over point. It has enough elevation to clear the fielder and rolls away to the boundary. Two scoring shots, two quick boundaries for Saravana. Trichy Grand Cholas finish on 182/8!

  • 19.5

No run. Swing and a miss! The batter swings hard at that one but does not connect.

  • 19.4

SIX! What a way for Saravana to open his account! A slower ball, full and wide outside off, and Kumar charges down the track, gets to the pitch and launches it cleanly over long on. That is some statement of intent first up.

  • 19.3

No run. Play and a miss! The batter wasn't quite sure how to play that one.

  • 19.2

1 run, the batter lofts this in the air and gets a run for the team.

  • 0.0

Athisayaraj Davidson is the number 10 batter.

  • 19.1

OUT! CAUGHT! Dhas had the right idea, but the execution lets him down. A length ball outside off, he leans into the stroke looking to clear the covers, but gets underneath it and slices the ball high towards deep cover. Rathi settles under the skier and takes it safely. Another wicket for Nellai as the Cholas lose their way at the finish.

  • 0.0

    Saravana Kumar walks in next.

  • 18.6

OUT! CAUGHT! Rajkumar's counterattack comes to an end. A length ball around off, and this time he fails to find the middle, sending a miscued loft towards long off. This time there is no escape as Guruswamy Ajitesh settles underneath it and holds on safely. A fine innings from Rajkumar comes to an end, but he has given the Cholas' total a serious boost.

  • 18.5

SIX! R Rajkumar is making Nellai pay for that let-off! Back in his hitting zone, he comes down the track, gets to the pitch of the ball and smites it high over long off. The missed chance is already looking expensive.

  • 18.4

No run, that is driven through the covers, but it is a dot ball.

  • 18.3

SIX! R Rajkumar stays right in his crease, waits for the ball outside off and launches it high over long off. Clean contact and another maximum as he keeps the scoreboard moving at a rapid rate.

  • 18.2

Dropped! Another reprieve for R Rajkumar. Length ball around off, R Rajkumar goes aerial again, towards long off, where the fielder runs in and drops the catch. Two runs. Costly miss.

  • 18.1

IS THAT CAUGHT? A moment of anxiety for Rajkumar. He launches a delivery around off over mid-off, but the ball hangs in the air and comes down sharply in front of the fielder. He gets low and gets his hands underneath it, but the ball hits the turf just as it reaches him. The umpire sends it upstairs, and the replays confirm the ball bounced first. Rajkumar survives, and that is a huge let-off.

  • 17.11

Serves it on a length, outside off and shaping away, Dhas leaves it. He is disappointed that the umpire has not called it a wide. End of the over, 17 runs from the over.

  • 17.10

A low full toss, played towards deep point for a run.

  • 17.9

Wide! This is down the off side and let through.

  • 17.8

Wide! That is left alone for the keeper to collect. Skipper Sonu is struggling to close this over, bowling too many wides.

  • 17.7

Wide! This is down the off side and let through. Again, the bowler is flirting with the cut strip.

  • 17.6

Wide! Too wide outside off, the batter looks to play that but is comprehensively beaten. Luckily for the bowler, this one landed just inside the playing area.

  • 17.5

SIX! BOOM! Short and around off, but Rajkumar is onto it in a flash. He rides the bounce, meets it at the top of the delivery and unleashes a brutal pull over mid-wicket. That has been absolutely hammered into the stands!

  • 17.4

EDGY FOUR! Fuller and outside off, R Rajkumar tries to heave over the leg side but edges it down to deep third for a boundary.

  • 17.3

No run. Play and a miss! The batter wasn't quite sure how to play that one.

  • 17.2

Sprays a very full ball, way wide outside off, not landing inside the playing area. The umpire confirms from upstairs and then signals for a no ball. Free Hit coming...

  • 17.1

Leg bye, that is a cracking pull off the back foot, but for no run.

  • 0.0

Sonu Yadav is back in the attack. 0/5 from his only over.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH -  Athisayaraj Davidson receives the award for his splendid bowling effort. His impressive figures of 3-0-24-4 are simply too hard to overlook. R Rajkumar made a strong case with his all-round contribution, but Davidson's fiery spell, including his double strike in the opening over, ultimately earns him the award.

  • 0.0

Rajkumar's all-round show - R Rajkumar was the real difference-maker in this contest. His blazing 45 off just 19 balls provided the late surge that gave the Cholas' total a serious lift, and he was just as effective with the ball. His two wickets came at crucial moments, making it a match-winning all-round contribution.

Clinical bowling - The Cholas were grand with the ball, starting with the double strike in the very first over, as mentioned already. They followed that up with impressive discipline and consistency, despite a partnership blossoming. In the middle phase, R Rajkumar and Sanjay Yadav took centre stage, combining for four wickets. Their timely breakthroughs kept the pressure firmly on and ensured Nellai never found a way back into the contest. Athisayaraj Davidson then returned to strike again, adding two more to his tally and completely shutting the doors on Nellai Royal Kings.

Big victory for the Cholas!  Job well done from them with the ball. Their defense could hardly have started better, with Athisayaraj Davidson striking twice in the very first over. That knocked the wind out of Nellai's sails, and the chase struggled to gather any real momentum thereafter. U Mukilesh and Athish S R briefly revived the pursuit with a 74-run stand, but once that partnership was broken, the chase nosedived, and the Kings never recovered.

  • 17.6

OUT! ALL OVER! The Cholas finish the job in emphatic fashion. Another slower ball on a length around off, Rathi hangs back looking to swing across the line but only manages a thick outside edge towards short third. Ganesh Moorthi settles underneath it and takes the simplest of catches. That seals it. Trichy Grand Cholas beat Nellai Royal Kings by 45 runs, completing a commanding victory.

  • 17.5

1 run, that is flicked off the back foot for a run.

  • 17.1
    Rohit R c Antony Dhas b K Easwaran 2 (3)

OUT! CAUGHT! Another soft dismissal as the wickets continue to tumble. A slower ball on a length around off, and Rohit is never quite in position to generate any power. He chips his attempted drive towards extra cover, where Dhas settles underneath it and accepts the chance with a smile. The Kings are falling away rapidly.

  • 16.6

1 run, this is worked away for a run.

  • 16.5

1 run, that is lofted away for a single.

  • 16.4

FOUR! Off the edge and Rathi gets a fortunate boundary! Full and outside off, he looks to work it through the leg side but gets an inside edge instead. The ball sneaks past the keeper's left and races away to the fence. They all count, and Nellai will gladly take the four.

  • 0.0

    Sachin Rathi walks in next.

  • 16.3
    Sonu Yadav b Athisayaraj Davidson 12 (9)

OUT! TIMBER! What a corker of a yorker from Davidson! Coming round the wicket with that slinging action, he disguises the delivery beautifully and spears it right at the stumps. Sonu Yadav swings across the line but is completely beaten, the ball sneaks through his legs and crashes into the stumps. Davidson is putting on a show with the ball.

  • 16.2

1 run, the batter lofts this in the air and gets a run for the team.

  • 0.0

Rohit R walks in next. 56 needed off 23 balls.

  • 16.1
NS Harish c Sanjay Yadav b Athisayaraj Davidson 3 (5)

OUT! CAUGHT! Davidson is back for his third over and strikes first ball! He takes the pace off, landing it on a length outside off, and Harish goes after it looking to clear the covers. He gets more elevation than distance, and the ball hangs up for Sanjay Yadav at wide long off, who settles underneath and takes it comfortably. Another wicket tumbles, and the Kings' chase is rapidly losing momentum.

  • 0.0

Athisayaraj Davidson comes back into the attack.

  • 15.6

SIX! There is the big one, and Sonu has absolutely nailed it! Full and around off, he throws everything into the stroke, catching it cleanly and heaving it high over mid-wicket. It sails deep into the stands for a massive maximum. The Kings are not giving up just yet. 56 needed off 24 balls.

1 run, the batter is on the front foot and has driven this through point for a run.
