Hit and miss with the ball - Madurai didn't quite hit their stride with the ball in the Powerplay, but debutant D Deepesh was the standout as he gave away only 10 runs in his first 2 overs. Rajalingam S did bowl a fine spell through the middle, which helped his side get back into the game. They were decent at the death and have managed to keep Trichy to under 175 runs. Right then, 174 is what Siechem Madurai Panthers need to start the new campaign with a win, but it won't be easy against Trichy's well-rounded bowling lineup. Stay tuned as the run chase is up next.

Bright start, decent finish - Trichy Grand Cholas started their batting innings in fine fashion, and it was the skipper who was the aggressor. The openers added 71 runs for the first wicket, but once Suresh Kumar got out, things slowed down. Trichy lost a few more wickets at regular intervals, but they managed to recover pretty well at the death. There was a 65-run stand between R Rajkumar and Sanjay Yadav and Trichy picked up 46 runs off the final four overs to get beyond the 170-run mark.

Dhas shuffles back looking for the big heave but misses completely, and the ball ricochets off his back pad onto the stumps. Captain led the way for Trichy - Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first, Trichy Grand Cholas came out of the blocks quickly, notching up 66 runs in the Powerplay without losing a wicket. However, things changed when skipper Suresh Kumar fell for 43 and slowly but surely, the Panthers started to grow in confidence. Sanjay Yadav and R Rajkumar then hit a couple of quickfire cameos, taking their side to a solid total of 173. With the ball, Rajalingam S was the standout for Madurai, picking up 3 wickets, and the debutant D. Deepesh also bowled an economical spell, picking up a wicket himself.

An all-time classic - Siechem Madurai Panthers were always behind in the chase once they lost those two early wickets. However, a 50-run stand between Kiran Karthikeyan and B Anirudh Sita Ram brought them back in the game. Antony Dhas and R Rajkumar did the heavy lifting with the ball for Trichy, picking up 5 wickets between themselves. At 132/8, Madurai were done and dusted, needing 42 more off just 17 balls. However, Gurjapneet Singh and P Saravanan hit a barrage of boundaries and in the end, they got over the line with a couple of balls to spare.
