এবছরে শতবর্ষে পা রাখছে ইস্টবেঙ্গল। শতবর্ষের প্রাক্কালে অবশ্য বিতর্ক যেন ক্লাবকে পিছু ছাড়ছে না। বিনিয়োগকারী কোয়েসের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কে চিড় ধরেছে। ক্লাবের শতবর্ষের অনুষ্ঠানের রবিবারের পথযাত্রায় ফুটবলার,সমর্থকদের গায়ে কোয়েসের পরিবর্তে পুরনো স্পনসর কিংফিশারের লোগো দেখা গিয়েছিল। যা নিয়ে ময়দানে জোড় গুঞ্জন, কোয়েসের সঙ্গে এবার সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করতে পারে ক্লাব,ইস্টবেঙ্গলে ফের শুরু হতে চলেছে কিংফিশার যুগ! এর মাঝেই এবার কপিলকে ক্লাবের অনুষ্ঠান বয়কটের আর্জি জানাল সমর্থকরা।

#KapildevBoycottEB ট্যাগটিতে সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় বেশ কিছু সমর্থক লিখেছেন, ক্লাব অন্যায় ভাবে বিনিয়োগকারী কোয়েসকে চুক্তি থেকে বেড়িয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য বাধ্য করছে। এখানেই শেষ নয়, অবিনাশ রুইদাস, জবির মতো ফুটবলারদের চুক্তি নিয়ে সাম্প্রতিক সময় অনেক অন্যায় করেছে ইস্টবেঙ্গল। সেকারণেই এমন ক্লাবের সঙ্গে কিংবদন্তি কপিল দেবের নাম জুড়ে যাওয়াটা অন্যায় হবে। এই দাবিতেই কপিল দেবকে ইস্টবেঙ্গল দিবসের অনুষ্ঠান বয়কট করার আহ্বান জানালো ক্লাবের প্রতি ক্ষুব্ধ সমর্থক দল।
